On the Spanish side of the Pyrenees, the road to remember is the N-260. It runs roughly east-west along the mountains and is one of those roads where you keep saying: just one more section. From the Catalan side towards Sort, La Seu d'Urgell, Pont de Suert, Ainsa and Sabiñanigo, it gives you long bends, gorges, dry hillsides and proper mountain views.
Ainsa is a very useful stop: nice old centre, food, fuel and several good directions for the next day. Compared with the French side, the Spanish Pyrenees often feel a bit drier, wider and less crowded.
