The Mosel is an easy favourite. The road along the river is pretty, but the real fun is climbing out of the valley and dropping back down again. Every loop gives you hairpins, vineyards, views over the river and another small wine village at the bottom.
Cochem, Zell, Traben-Trarbach and Bernkastel-Kues are good names to put on the map. Ride one side of the river for a while, cross a bridge, then take a small road up to the plateau. The area is also useful because you can combine it with the Eifel, Hunsrueck or even Luxembourg without a boring transfer day.
